Carbon Reduction

Our company should consider stopping the purchasing of dairy. Instead, we should replace cow’s milk with soy, coconut, or almond milk alternatives. This will reduce the carbon footprint of our company by 4% and encourage staff to maybe do the same at home.

Our company is going to implement an organic policy and ensure that where possible we buy organic certified only. Organic products use 45% less energy, release 40 percent less carbon emissions, and foster 30 percent more biodiversity.

Clean Water

We have fully removed the use of phosphorus detergents in our company.

Energy

Our company should consider having a building energy rating audit. This will help us identify which buildings are energy efficient and which are not. Building energy rating reports also list improvements that can be made to reduce energy leakage and therefore reduce our yearly energy bill.

Our company uses electricity sources generated from renewables and we pledge that we will continue to ensure that all the electricity we use will be sourced from renewables.

Our company has replaced all the fluorescent tubes with LED tubes which has reduced our electricity usage.

Food

Our company should implement a vegan Monday where staff on a voluntary basis eats vegan only that day. Encouraging staff not to eat meat for 1 day a week on a voluntary basis seems like a small step but has a big impact on the world. If you have a company kitchen you can encourage the chef to serve vegan or you can invite a vegan restaurant to deliver some vegan food for your staff.

Waste

Our company should plan a number of recycling days where staff our encouraged to bring any recyclable materials they have at home. This not only encourages staff to recycle more but also reduces the general waste within the company reducing the waste bill for the company.

Our company has a No Plastic Policy in place to reduce the single use plastic our company buys.

We have reduced the printing in our company to a bare minimum and our proud to call ourselves a paperless company.

Our company has reduced our waste dramatically by encouraging our staff to reuse rather than binning. This not only has reduced our waste bill, but we also have seen a reduction in our purchasing cost.

Our company uses sustainable packaging which is made from lightweight materials and is almost fully recyclable. This has reduced the waste the company produces and reduced our transport cost.

Our company should consider starting a downstream awareness program to promote ethical decision-making throughout our supply chain. Our company is only one part of our environmental sustainability. Through an awareness program we can ensure that our entire supply chain is moving to a sustainable future.

Our company should consider starting a downstream environmental audit program and requiring our suppliers and partners to achieve a certain rating. This will allow us to increase our own eco rating and encourage downstream companies to engage in sustainable practices as well.

Management

Our company has a sustainability team responsible for the implementation and governance of our environmental and sustainability policies.

Our company has created a program to encourage our downstream suppliers to adhere to the same standards that we follow regarding social and environmental governance. This improves our own carbon footprint, increase our social standing in the community and improve the environment in our downstream communities.

Our company does this to have an impact on the communities in which we operate. Employees have the option to join different types of volunteering programmes for local charities with their time and skills.

Our company should implement a sustainability training program to demonstrate staff how small changes can make a big impact on the sustainability of our planet. Through this training program we not only will achieve savings for our staff and their families but also for the company. A greater awareness amongst staff will achieve more compliance for all aspects of our sustainability policies.
